Theta meditation - one of the types of meditation was created by Vianna Stibal in 1995 after her personal experience of getting rid of a tumor in her leg. The technique of theta healing meditation (ThetaHealing), which has become authorial, teaches how to use one’s natural intuition for physical and emotional well-being, relying on unconditional love for the Creator of all that exists.
Scientific basis
The first regular slow oscillations in the brain were described by C.G. Jung (the author of the theory of the conscious and unconscious). Modern research proves that there are five main brain waves: Beta, Alpha, Theta, Delta and Gamma. These brain waves are in constant motion; the brain of each person produces coordinated waves at all frequencies daily. In studies of the human brain using electroencephalography, it was recorded that in the theta state, brain waves oscillate in the range of 4-7 Hz, regardless of their source. Such a brain state is observed in young children, and in older children and adults it manifests itself during meditative, hypnotic or sleepy states (twilight state, which you can usually briefly experience immediately after waking up or falling asleep), but not during the deepest stages of sleep. Theta brain waves can be considered the subconscious; they control the part of our mind that lies between the conscious and unconscious, and store all memories and feelings.
Advantages
First of all, it should be noted that the ability of our brain to transition through various frequencies of brain waves determines how successfully we cope with stress, focus on tasks and have regular healthy sleep at night. Therefore, if one of the five types of brain waves dominates in the brain, this can cause problems. For this reason, it is important to understand that there is no brain wave that is “better” than others. In particular, too much activity of theta waves can provoke depression, inattention, impulsivity, make a person too suggestible, due to the fact that a person is in a deeply relaxed, semi-hypnotic state. Conversely, a lack of brain activity in the theta wave range often causes anxiety, lethargy, stress. So, let’s list the main advantages of being in the “theta” state:
- getting rid of stress, both psychological and physical. The mind relaxes, allowing you to focus on solving the problems of the body. This is ideal for relieving work-related stress, as it has been proven that this type of stress can cause not only psychological problems, but also health problems.
- increased creative activity, learning ability, increased memory capacity - it has been proven that artists and people with high IQs experience a surge of theta waves in the brain during intellectual and creative activities. Memory also improves, allowing you to retain new skills or information in the process of creativity and learning.
- improvement of mental abilities and increase in physical energy and healing processes. These advantages are primarily provided by beta and delta waves, but it is theta waves that combine and amplify them. It is theta waves that are responsible for “healing sleep”, allowing the body to recover physically and mentally. In addition, tuning to theta waves during meditation allows the body to release energy - “a second wind” necessary to achieve goals.
- improvement of metaphysical skills and abilities: clairvoyance, vision of conscious and controlled dreams, and other spiritual experiences.
Techniques
Many scientific studies have shown that the practice of theta meditation for just 30 minutes can produce amazing results, improving mental and physical condition. There are many types of meditation, and many of them can help achieve a theta wave state. We will give three keys that allow you to tune into the desired wave in any meditation:
- Visualization. A great way to achieve a theta state during meditation is to dream, while letting your mind not be empty, but focus on dreams: dreams about the future or good memories from the past, thoughts about your own understanding of the universe - visualizing all this can help achieve a theta state.
- Deep relaxation. In order to meditate and especially meditate and visualize, you need to enter a state of deep relaxation, which, in turn, also produces theta waves. Practice should be carried out in a place where it is easy to relax and there are no distracting factors.
- Spiritual practice. Regardless of your religious or worldview beliefs, spiritual connections, repetition of mantras and prayers, as well as worldview attitudes - helps in achieving the theta state. For faster achievement of the effect of theta waves during meditations, special, in particular, binaural audio recordings are listened to.

I knew before that even business is built on theta waves, but I always treated it skeptically. I am closer to science. But when I tried these practices and saw how it works - I was surprised. You just need to correctly adjust your theta waves and you can achieve high results both in work and avoid constant stress, which everyone often talks about, that it has become as common as a cold. This is my personal experience, and now, of course, I am not going to leave these practices. Marina 09.02.2018 at 10:25 We believe that the "correct" worldview and corresponding moods will inevitably lead a person to success, in this case - in business :) Yoga and meditation undoubtedly contribute to this.

Theta healing helped me heal my emotional wounds. I entered a meditative state and tuned myself to the right wave. After a couple of weeks of practice, I felt like a different person. The stages of meditation consist of two parts, in the first part we must destroy the attitudes that are embedded in us through the upbringing of parents, the second stage eliminates the attitudes embedded genetically and passed on to us from distant ancestors. All these incorrect attitudes create blocks in our subconscious, which prevent us from being successful, healthy, efficient, loving and loved Marina 09.02.2018 at 10:18 Alina, thank you for your feedback. You are absolutely right that the attitudes of society, as well as those embedded genetically and during upbringing, often prevent a person from becoming happy and revealing their full potential. This meditation (however, as well as other types of meditation) successfully and systematically helps to return to oneself, listen to one's voice and live in harmony and peace.
