What will performing Maha Bandha give you?

Wishing to improve and know themselves, the possibilities of their own body and spirit, people often turn to yoga. Allowing to strengthen health, restore strength and learn to manage their own resources, yoga contains many techniques, complexes and methods that practitioners have to master. Maha Bandha is a component technique in Hatha Yoga and a key exercise from the four Bandhas necessary for influencing and improving the physical body.

What is it?

Maha Bandha is a symbol of the great lock, respectively being one of the four preceding locks. This bandha includes the performance of all locks at once in the form of an independent practice, an element of pranayama (breathing complex) or mudra (special gestures and positions).

It is believed that Maha Bandha prevents the loss of sexual energy, helps to systematize its direction to rid the subtle body of “weak” points.

In yoga, the subtle body is considered to be the energy shell inherent in every person and other living beings. It consists of three bodies: pranic, mental and the body of consciousness.
The exercise will benefit every practitioner, bringing him closer to managing sexual energy to strengthen physical and mental health. This type of energy is considered the most powerful, usually used improperly, which is wasted on images, emotions and words. Yogis put into Maha Bandha the meaning of the possibility of taking the first step towards awareness and control of sexual power.

The main goal is to unite prana (the energy of Cosmos and life) and apana (the energy of excretory processes) in the Manipura chakra (sacral solar plexus). This technique of the great lock leads to the merging of these two energies.

  • relieves impotence and infertility;
  • positively affects the menstrual cycle;
  • preservation of energy in some parts of the subtle body;
